Swiss 2 Franc Coin Ring
When we think of Switzerland, we often think of barren snow-covered mountain tops, but did you know that the mountain landscapes are exceptionally rich in beautiful and rare alpine flowers? It makes us want to burst into a rendition of Edelweiss from Sound of Music!
Switzerland’s rich natural heritage is also reflected on their coinage. The Switzerland 2 Franc coin was minted in .835 silver from 1874 to 1967 and the outside band of the 2 Franc Coin Ring features a beautiful wreath of Laurel leaves and flowers, and Oak leaves, complete with intricate acorns.
On the inside band we see the head of a woman and the name ‘Helvetia’. She is the female personification of Switzerland and is encircled by 22 five-pointed stars representing the 22 cantons (member states) of the Swiss Confederation.
The dark patina frames the intricate detail of this ring beautifully and this particular Coin Ring is often chosen as an alternative wedding ring.
